You can update to iOS 6 by going into settings, general, then software update, then install. iOS 6 comes with 200+ new features which improve apples built-in apps and software.


APPLE MAPS:

Firstly, Apple have completely gotten rid of Google Maps and replaced it with their own version. Apples license to have the Google Maps app on iOS devices ended this year, and with google now being their competition, Apple didn't want Google Maps anymore. Apples version of Maps doesn't have the street view option as Google Maps does, but it does have a really cool feature called Fly Over. This is where you can fly over selected cities in the US such as New York, and get a 3D view of all the skyscrapers, streets and other buildings.

SIRI UPDATES:

Siri is now avaliable on the third and Fourth Generation iPad, and 5th Generation iPod Touch on iOS 6. Siri now can tell you about game scores, she launches apps, updates Facebook and Twitter statuses, and makes dinner reservations!

FACEBOOK INTERGRATION:

Facebook is intergrated into the slide down notification bar, so you can simply swipe down the notification bar and make a status.

SHARED PHOTO STREAMS:

Apple has released Shared Photo Streams on all iOS devices, Macs and the Apple TV. Shared Photo Streams is a way to share photos to family and friends, you can also like a photo and comment on one.

PASSBOOK:

Passbook is on iPhones and iPod Touches upgraded to iOS 6. Passbook is a way to keep all of your passes such as movie tickets or dinner vouchers all in one place. Each voucher has a barcode and you simply scan the barcode on the scanner and your balance gets reduced. Also tickets are live, so if you have a plane ticket, it will give you a notification if your flights time has been changed or cancelled.

FACETIME UPDATE:

FaceTime can now be done over cellular networks.

PHONE UPDATES:

When you can't get to a call you can send a text back, or set a call-back reminder. Also when you don't want any notifications distracting you, you can simply turn on Do Not Disturb in settings. Which basically means when you get a notification it doesn't make a sound.

MAIL UPDATES:

It's even easier to write and read mail, and there is a VIP folder so you can flag those special contacts. It's now even simpler to add photos and videos to your emails, and all you have to do to refresh your inbox is simply swipe down!

SAFARI UPDATES:

There are now iCloud Tabs, so if you were reading a page on your iMac, and you go out, you can continue reading right where you left off on your iPhone! Safari can now save web pages, not just links, and you can choose photos and videos from the Camera Roll to upload to the Internet without leaving the app! Also, on the iPhone and iPod Touch, when you turn your screen to landscape you can tap the full screen button so you can surf the web with no distractions!

ACCESSABILITY UPDATES:

Guided Access is a new way to get students with disabilities or normal students to stay in one app by turning off the home button or turning off parts of the screen.
